Crack the Tell
Privacy Policy
Effective July 4, 2026
Crack the Tell is a daily cryptic-crossword game. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect and how we handle it. We keep it minimal on purpose.
What we collect
- Your account email — used to sign you in and recognize your account.
- Your sign-in method — a magic link sent to your email, or Google sign-in if you choose it.
- An auto-assigned pseudonym — every player gets one. We never require your real name.
- Gameplay data — the puzzles you solve, your attempts, your streaks, and your virtual coin balance.
- Basic product analytics— usage and events collected via PostHog, so we can see what's working and fix what isn't.
How we use it
To run the game, keep your streak and progress, authenticate you, and improve the product. That's the whole list.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not send marketing email unless you explicitly opt in.
- Your leaderboard visibility is off until you switch it on.
Who processes your data
We rely on a small set of sub-processors to run the service:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Vercel — hosting.
Your choices
- Request access to, or deletion of, your data.
- Opt out of the leaderboard at any time.
- Sign out whenever you like.

Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top. See also our Terms.
